NOTE: The RED DSMC2 DRAGON-X Camera Kit itself does not have a DC IN power port. A port expander or power module (sold separately) is required to power the camera. To build a working configuration for any BRAIN, RED recommends an expander, battery, lens mount, display, and media. All DSMC2 BRAINs ship with a standard OLPF; an OLPF 2-pack is available (sold seperately) for Skin Tone-Highlight and Low Light shooting environments.

RED DSMC2 DRAGON-X Camera Kit Lens Mounts

Like most RED cameras, this DSMC2 BRAIN does not include a lens mount. You can attach various lens mounts to RED cameras, the two most popular being the DSMC S35 Titanium PL Mount (725-0022) and DSMC S35 Aluminum Canon (EF) Mount (725-0026).

RED DSMC2 DRAGON-X Camera Kit Interchangable OLPF

Each OLPF ships inside an individual, protective case. This RED DSMC2 DRAGON-X BRAIN includes a Standard OLPF (optical low-pass filter) suited for most shooting environments, to balance light and offer protection. It offers optimal colorimetry, IR protection, and optical glare reduction. If you are unfamiliar with the process, be sure to read the instructions in the RED Operation Guide before attempting to swap an interchangable OLPF.

RED DSMC2 DRAGON-X Camera Kit Accessories

RED DSMC2 camera BRAINs can pair with a variety of RED and 3rd party accessories (sold separately). RED’s LEMO Adapter A will help you use your pre-existing EPIC or SCARLET displays (e.g., RED Touch, RED Pro, and RED PRO Touch) with the newer DSMC2 BRAIN.

The RED DSMC2 DRAGON-X Camera Kit offers support for a wide variety of Canon EF and EF-S compatible lenses to use with your DSMC or DSMC2 BRAIN. Available in lightweight machined aluminum, the DSMC Canon Mount offers modularity and convenience. It supports autofocus and electronic iris control with your compatible lenses.

This mount is solidly built. It uses a dual-ring lock system to secure Canon EF and EF-S lenses. It’s easy to install and takes very little time. Be sure to tighten the mount with appropriate tools so that you create a firm seal, but do not over-tighten. Finger tightening may not be sufficient.

The mount attaches easily to the front of your camera BRAIN This model features captive mounting screws, so you’ll never have to worry about searching for hardware.

The Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 ART DC HSM A Zoom – EF Mount is designed specifically for APS-C sensors (translates to 27-52.5mm on a 35mm camera). Tapping into Sigma’s long history of lens innovations, the 18-35mm 1.8 DC HSM incorporates a wide glass molded aspherical lens with Special Low Dispersion (SLD) element to compensate for aberrations and curvature at the widest angle. Internal focusing and zooming allows for more usability and functionality.

The 18-35mm is ideal for landscape photography, portrait photography, still life photography, snap shots, casual photography, and close-ups. The Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) ensures smooth, fast and accurate autofocusing. The use of Thermally Composite Material (TSC) reduces size and weight but increases accuracy of the lens construction. Its new Global Vision design features compatibility with the Sigma USB dock for further customization. A 9 blade rounded diaphragm also creates beautiful background blur (bokeh).

The RED DSMC2 V-Lock I/O Expander offers a variety of Input/Output connections, as well as an industry standard V-Lock mount to power your DSMC2 camera using optional RED BRICK batteries. Constructed from lightweight and durable magnesium, this expander module mounts directly to the rear of your camera BRAIN.

The DSMC2 V-Lock I/O Expander also features a selector switch to enables your BRAIN to automatically boot when power is provided via the DC IN connector on the expander. This feature allows you to use a connected DC input supply to turn the BRAIN on/off when your RED DSMC2 camera is mounted in remote or difficult to maneuver locations.

This expander is an ideal solution for a wide variety of production environments, from low-profile run-and-gun situations, to studio shoots that require mobility.

NOTE: The RED DSMC2 DRAGON-X Camera Kit Top Handle is NOT fully compatible with the DSMC2 Base I/O V-Lock Expander. The top handle will interfere with the battery when one is attached to the expander module.

The RED DSMC2 DRAGON-X Camera Kit has a 4.7″ RED DSMC2 TOUCH LCD Monitor offers a 720p interactive viewing experience in the smallest and most compact form factor available for your DSMC2 camera system. The 4.7″ LCD features a lay-flat hinge design with a tilt range of approximately 240° (90° forward, 150° backward) for space saving or optimizing your configuration.

Use the cable-free DSMC2 RED Touch 4.7″ LCD as your primary display by mounting it to the top of your BRAIN with 1/4″-20 mounting points, or mount it to the secondary (side) EVF/LCD port for a low-profile secondary display. The built-in 180° image rotation feature (mirror and flip) provides additional display mounting options by allowing monitor footage to be displayed upside down. This monitor is a cable-free display for shooters looking for a small and lightweight camera rig.

NOTE: It is also compatible with RED EPIC and SCARLET cameras using the DSMC2 LEMO Adaptor B.

When used in conjunction with the DSMC2 LEMO Adaptor Collection, the user can mount the DSMC2 display away from the camera body.

The IDX VL-2X delivers slim, lightweight 2-channel charging with the added advantage of an integrated 36W power supply. With a new fanless design, the VL-2X also delivers high power charging without the noise of a typical quick charger.
